Consent Management
Usizy allows full flexibility in managing consent — either inherited from the eCommerce cookie consent or collected directly before starting a conversation.
1. Purpose
To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ensure transparency with end users, Usizy Smart Assistant includes a consent management feature.
This feature lets you decide how and when visitors must provide their consent before any personal data is processed through the assistant.
You can choose between two consent modes:
- Automatic consent via your eCommerce cookie banner, or
- Explicit consent directly within the Smart Assistant interface before the conversation begins.
Both approaches are designed to guarantee compliance while maintaining the best possible user experience.
2. Consent via the eCommerce Cookie Banner
In many online stores, visitor consent is already managed through a cookie and privacy banner displayed when accessing the website. If your shop uses such a banner to obtain consent for data processing and third-party tools, Smart Assistant can inherit this consent automatically.
How it works
- When a visitor accepts the website’s cookies and related data processing categories (such as analytics, personalization, or support tools), the eCommerce platform may authorize the activation of the Usizy Smart Assistant.
- Usizy does not directly manage cookie consent.
- The Customer (Data Controller) is responsible for configuring their cookie management system (CMP) to load or block the Smart Assistant script based on the visitor’s preferences.
If the visitor refuses cookies or does not give consent, the Smart Assistant script will not load, and no data will be processed by Usizy.
Best practice
Ensure that your cookie management system (CMP) clearly lists “Smart Assistant” as one of the tools or services using cookies or processing personal data (such as chat content, IP address, or session ID).
This provides clear transparency to the end user and ensures proper logging of consent.
3. Explicit Consent in the Smart Assistant
If you prefer to collect explicit consent directly in the chatbox, you can activate this option in the Usizy Dashboard.
How to enable
- Log into your Usizy Dashboard as a Manager.
- Go to Settings → Parameters.
- Enable the option “Display consent”
- Save your changes.
Example of consent message
“To help you and improve your shopping experience, we need to process certain personal data (such as your messages or preferences). By continuing, you agree to this processing in accordance with our [Privacy Policy].”
The user must then:
- Click “Accept and continue” to start the conversation, or
- Click “Decline” to close the chat or continue browsing without using the Smart Assistant.
If consent is declined, the Smart Assistant will start any conversation.
4. Data Handling When Consent Is Not Given
When a visitor declines consent:
- No cookies, trackers, or conversation data are stored;
- The Smart Assistant remains inactive;
- Any temporary session data is automatically deleted when the page is closed.
If the user later accepts cookies or reopens the assistant with consent, Smart Assistant will initialize normally.
