Why Do You Ask for Body Images during the recommendation process?

Understanding the Role of Body Zones in Accurate Size Recommendations At Usizy, our goal is to help you find the perfect fit—every time. One of the ways we do that is by creating a personalized body avatar based on each user’s height, weight, and key body zone proportions: chest, waist, and hips. To improve accuracy, we ask end users to select various images, to define their body shape to estimate these measurements more precisely.

Why do we need chest, waist, and hip estimates? Even if you’re shopping for something specific—like a T-shirt, dress, or trousers, understanding your full body proportions is essential. Here’s why:

Body zones affect garment fit differently. For example, a shirt primarily relies on your chest and shoulder width, but if your waist-to-hip ratio is not standard, it can affect how the shirt drapes.

Trouser fit is more than just waist size. For pants, we need to consider both waist and hip dimensions to predict whether the fit will be tight, loose, or balanced through the thigh and seat area.

Your body proportions guide product-to-body mapping. Our technology doesn’t rely only on brand-provided size charts. We simulate how a product will fit on your unique avatar—requiring key reference points across your body.

Why do we need to define your full body avatar regardless of the target product? Height and weight alone don’t tell the full story. Two people with the same height and weight can have very different body shapes. A full-body image helps our system:

  • Estimate your relative proportions (e.g., torso vs. waist, waist vs. hip…)

  • Determine where your chest, waist, and hips fall in relation to each other.

  • Model a more accurate 3D or data-based fit avatar to test garments virtually

Does it matter what type of product I’m buying? Yes—and that’s exactly why the avatar is helpful. Our system adjusts the importance of different body zones based on the item:

  • T-Shirts & Tops: Focus on chest, and upper torso fit

  • Pants & Trousers: Focus on waist, hip

  • Dresses & Jumpsuits: Full-body balance matters most

  • Jackets & Outerwear: Layering and chest proportions are key

Regardless of product type, knowing the main body measurements ensures we recommend the most accurate and comfortable size for your shape—not just your weight.
